CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. ? He was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Marshall Mo., the son of Cecil Thomas and Louise (Melcher) Hough. He grew up in Lawrence, Kan., and earned a bachelorâÂÂs degree in business administration and in 1948 a masterâÂÂs of business administration in petroleum economics from Kansas University.

Mr. Hough served four years in World War II and was a first lieutenant combat infantry leader in Europe. He fought in Battle of the Bulge and Battle of Berlin and was decorated with two Purple Hearts with oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star, Battlefield Promotion and other decorations. He worked for Lawrence Paper Co. for 10 years. He then manufactured and distributed industrial products and services to Texas petrochemical and refining industries in Corpus Christi, Tex. He owned Corpus Christi Gasket and Fastener Co., Fluid Sealing Products of Houston, Corpus Christi Equipment Co., and Gilman Insulation Co., later called Basic Industries of South Texas; and he also was a partner in Distribution International of Corpus Christi.

He was a member of Rotary International for more than 40 years and was a Paul Harris Fellow, as well as past president of South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind and Red Cross County Chapter, where he established a federally approved county blood bank. He served on boards of directors for many trade associations, including National Insulation Contractors Assn. and South West Insulation Contractors Assn. He was a member of Glenmore County Club, Keswick, former member of Corpus Christi Country Club and director of the Corpus Christi Town Club. He was active in Church of the Good Shepherd of Corpus Christi and Christ Church Episcopal, Charlottesville.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne, of the home; two sons, Chip, Corpus Christi, Tex., and Chris, Herndon; and five grandchildren.
