Eight county roads slated for re-surfacing

Contractors are scheduled to apply new “chip and seal” surfaces in mid-August to a handful of paved roads in Douglas County.

Hi Plains Sand Co. of Kanopolis will earn about $400,000 to handle the work, which tops a layer of sticky asphalt with chips of rock to form a sealed road surface.

The County Roads scheduled for new surfaces:

 12, from County Road 1055 to the end of pavement.

 14, from U.S. Highway 56 to Baldwin’s city limit.

 458, from County Road 1055 to County Road 1061; U.S. Highway 59 to County Road 1055; and East 800 Road to North 1150 Road.

 460, from East 1900 Road to East 2100 Road; U.S. 59 to East 1460 Road; 2.2 miles west of East 1100 Road; the Shawnee County line to East 100 Road; and East 550 Road to East 600 Road.

 1023, for 3 miles north of U.S. Highway 40; and County Road 6 to the intersection of North 950 and East 300 roads.

 1039, from North 500 Road to North 250 Road.

 1055, from the Franklin County line to North 200 Road; and from County Roads 12 to 460.

 1061, from North 1000 Road to North 1200 Road.

Also scheduled for new surfaces are North 1464 and North 1452 roads in Lake Estates, and East 1485 Road in Quantrill Acres.
