Seniors celebrate

More than 25 graduating seniors from Lawrence and Free State high schools won scholarships and prizes as part of Sunday’s Project Graduation event.

The party, which began after the two schools’ graduation ceremonies Sunday, was held at The Granada and lasted until 4 a.m Monday. The event is an annual affair put on by parents, businesses and others aiming to provide a safe, alcohol-free environment for graduates.

Here’s a list of the prize winners from this year’s event:

$50 certificate from Weaver’s Department Store/$50 savings bond from Central National Bank, Kevin Jacob; photo setting from Creative Images, Cassandra Mayhugh; $250 scholarship from Breakfast Optimist Club, Eva Bauer; $200 scholarship from Heinz Foods, Jonathan Ewing.
