Seventy-five films by Kansas and Missouri movie makers will be shown Saturday at this year’s KAN Film Festival at the Lied Center.

The KAN Film Festival begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Films will run continuously until 5 p.m. in three venues at the Lied Center. The awards ceremony is at 5:15 p.m.

A pre-festival event will feature the premiere of Benjamin Meade’s film “Vakvagany” at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the Rio Theatre, 7204 W. 80th St., Overland Park. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students with ID. The film includes adult subject matter and nudity.

Here are area finalists:

Open division: “Medicine on the Kansas Prairie,” Dan Ginavan, Eudora, documentary; “The Ranger’s Song,” Dan Spurgin and The Hypothetical Seven, Lawrence, music video; “Content,” Tamara Christensen, Lawrence, original; and “Rain,” Matthew Jacobson, Lawrence, original.

College division: “Building New Lives, One Life at a Time,” Patrick Rea and Vickie Goetz, Kansas University, documentary; “Movin’ on Down the Line,” Kyle Hamrick, Ravi DeSilva and Spencer Post, KU, documentary; “10 Speed,” Ethan Shaftel of Lawrence, University of Southern California, drama/comedy; “Summer Days of Calsto,” Jeremy Osbern, KU, music video; “Man Versus Refrigerator,” Jeremy Osbern, KU, original.

Secondary division: “From Outer Space,” Jon Ulasien, Free State High School, original.

l Intermediate division: “Parts of a Cell, Demonstrated through Toys,” Kayla Frost, West Junior High School, documentary; “A Little Murder on Palmer Court,” Jenny and Katie Schaetzel, Southwest Junior High School, drama/comedy.
