Still no need for surgery for Red Sox slugger Ramirez

? Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez still does not need surgery on his broken left index finger, a team doctor said after re-examining the injury Wednesday.

An exam by Dr. Bill Morgan and CT scans showed the break has not spread. If it had spread, it would have been more likely he would require surgery.

Ramirez will now undergo a week of hand therapy in Miami, where he has spent the past week. He is expected to return to Boston for another exam by Morgan on May 28, after which he could rejoin the team to continue therapy and conditioning.

Ramirez has missed two weeks with the injury.
