A van crashed into the front of Hastings Books, Music and Video, 1900 W. 23rd St., early Tuesday afternoon, knocking out a large plate-glass front window and damaging the concrete foundation under it.

The van’s driver was not hurt, nor was anyone in the store, manager David Bilyea said.

“Nobody saw it; we just heard it,” Bilyea said. “No one was in front standing close to the window.”

The driver was still able to drive the van after the accident had been investigated by police, Bilyea said. The accident occurred about 12:30 p.m.

Lawrence Police were called to investigate. A report was still being prepared, and no other information was available.
