Stalking case heads to trial

Los Angeles A man accused of stalking rapper Master P for more than three years will stand trial.

A judge issued the order Friday in the case of Antwan Kevin Baker, accused of stalking and making criminal threats.

Prosecutors said Baker began stalking Percy Miller, known as Master P, in 1999 and continued until his arrest April 17 at the office of the rapper’s attorney.

Baker first confronted the rapper at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport in an effort to get a recording contract and convince the rapper to finance a movie, Torrence said.

Crowd not crazy about Green

West Des Moines, Iowa Actor and comedian Tom Green’s appearance at a central Iowa dance club turned sour when bar patrons booed him off stage.

Green, known for annoying antics, was greeted warmly at first by Thursday night club-goers at Coconut Joe’s .

He yelled into a disc jockey’s microphone, encouraging the crowd to repeat phrases like “Beer,” “I like to drink beer” and “In Iowa, we like to drink beer.”

Patrons played along until Green continued breaking into the music yelling “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.”

By the end of the stint, club-goers were booing him off the stage.

Catching his passes

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is no longer a free agent on the romance market.

One of the city’s most famous bachelors, McNabb proposed marriage to longtime girlfriend Raquel Nurse, 26, assistant director of academic support at Villanova University.

McNabb, 25, is a two-time Pro Bowl quarterback and has been romantically involved with Nurse since they attended Syracuse University.

Nurse was a point guard and two-time MVP on the Syracuse women’s basketball team.

No wedding date has been set.

Georgia town proud of its ‘Pappy’

Thomaston, Ga. “Pappy” has made it to the final four, and the hometown folks are cheering.

Paschal English, the Griffin District Superior Court judge from Thomaston, has made it to the last episode of “Survivor: Marquesas,” scheduled to air tonight on CBS. Nicknamed “Pappy” by his tribe, English is one of four contestants still vying for the show’s $1 million prize.

Having one of their own in the running has given this central Georgia town of 10,000 people, still reeling from the closing of Thomaston Mills last year, a reason to cheer.

Hundreds of residents and “Survivor” fans are expected to fill the Ritz Theatre downtown and the courthouse square here to watch the program tonight.
