Graduation exercises dominate calendar

More students in the Class of 2002 will receive diplomas in commencements this weekend and next across the area. Continuing with ceremonies today, students will take the stage to celebrate earning high school diplomas and bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

Rain-out information and venue changes for Sunday’s Kansas University and some other Lawrence-area graduations will be available on the Journal-World’s Web site at www.ljworld.com. The newspaper also will run lists of all area high school graduates in the coming weeks.

High schools

 Eudora High School  2:30 p.m. May 26 at the high school gym. Baccalaureate service at 1 p.m.

 Free State High School  1 p.m. May 26 at Kansas Memorial Stadium. Graduation will be moved to Allen Fieldhouse in the event of inclement weather.

 Lawrence High School  4 p.m. May 26 at Kansas Memorial Stadium. Graduation will be moved to Allen Fieldhouse in the event of inclement weather.

 Wellsville High School  2 p.m. today at the district stadium.

 Ottawa High School  2 p.m. today at Steve Grogan Stadium.

 DeSoto High School  4 p.m. today at the high school.

 Oskaloosa High School  3 p.m. today at the high school gym.

Colleges

 Baker University  1 p.m. today at Collins Sports Center in Baldwin. Speaker: Delbert Shankel, professor of microbiology and chancellor emeritus at Kansas University. Ceremony for School of Nursing and School of Professional and Graduate Studies at 4:30 p.m. Speaker: Karen Pletz, president and chief executive officer of the University of Health Sciences, Kansas City, Mo. Baccalaureate service at 9:30 a.m., First United Methodist Church.
