Mussers named MVPs of KU softball team

Christi Musser was named MVP of Kansas University’s softball team during the Jayhawks’ postseason banquet during the weekend. Musser also was named Offensive MVP.

The senior outfielder from Scottsdale, Ariz., hit .354 with 30 RBIs and nine home runs. She was a second-team selection on the All-Big 12 Team.

Center fielder Shelly Musser was selected as the Jayhawks’ Defensive MVP.

The senior captain led KU with 14 doubles and 15 steals. She hit .304 and joined her sister on the Big 12 second team.

Sophomore Dani May and freshman Serena Settlemier shared Most Improved honors, and sophomore Leah Mountain repeated as the Jayhawk Pride Award winner.

KU finished 33-25 overall and 7-11 in conference play.
