Governor's Classic

Topeka On May 23-24, Governor Bill Graves will host the annual Governor's Fishing Classic at Coffey County Lake near Burlington. The Classic is in conjunction with the Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs program. For information, call Harland Priddle at 843-9453.

Saathoffs bass champs

Shawn Saathoff of Lawrence and his father, Bob Saathoff of Topeka, teamed to catch five bass that weighed 12.32 pounds and they won the Jackpot Buddy Bass tournament last Sunday at Wilson Lake.

Kurtz takes prize

Dave Kurtz won the Lawrence Bass Club tournament last Saturday at Melvern Lake by catching six largemouth bass that measured from 17 to 19 inches in length. Kelly Hoover was runner-up and caught the biggest bass at 2112 inches. Jerry Benjamin finished third.

Walleye champions

Dick Bieker of Concordia and Larry Bieker of Pittsburg teamed to catch eight fish that weight 27.4 pounds and won last Sunday's Kansas Walleye Association tournament at El Dorado Lake.
