Jack Sebbert

Iola Services for Jack Sebbert, 81, Iola, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Iola.

Mr. Sebbert died Friday, May 10, 2002, at Windsor Place, Iola.

He was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of J. Andrew and Zella “Pudge” (Horton) Sebbert.

He grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Sebbert was a carpenter by trade until ill health forced his retirement.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Iola, and Iola American Legion.

He married Leota Blohm on May 6, 1944, in Humboldt. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Chuck, Corpus Christi, Tex.; two daughters, Debra Sebbert, of the home, and Deanna Hoffmeier, Lawrence; two brothers, Bob, Wathena, and Gary, Muscatine, Iowa; four sisters, Kay Jackson, Augusta, Shirley Breiner, Savonburg, and Jane Wilkerson and Arlys Sakata, both of Wichita; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials to Calvary United Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 16 N. Buckeye, Iola 66749.
