Hamstring injury will sideline Twins’ Koskie

? The Minnesota Twins placed third baseman Corey Koskie on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a right hamstring injury.

Koskie pulled his hamstring while running the bases Tuesday night. He had never been on the DL before.

The Twins recalled infielder Casey Blake from Triple-A Edmonton to take Koskie’s spot on the roster.

Koskie, batting .311 with four homers and 19 RBIs, is the sixth Minnesota player to go on the disabled list this season. He joins second baseman Luis Rivas, designated hitter David Ortiz and starting pitcher Joe Mays currently on the DL.

“We can’t do anything about it but play,” Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire said before Friday night’s game against the New York Yankees. “Guys run around and try to do as much as they can, and injuries happen. It’s unfortunate, but we’re not going to cry about it.”

Blake had to be added to the 40-man roster, so infielder Warren Morris, currently playing at Edmonton, was designated for assignment to make room.
