She was born Sept. 28, 1943, in Clear Lake, S.D., the daughter of Warren Lacy and Helen Dorothy (Kraft) Byerley.

She spent her childhood in the Centerville and Goodrich areas.

She attended a Goodrich grade school and graduated in 1961 from Blue Mound High School.

Ms. Byerley worked as a nurse’s aide at Osawatomie State Hospital from Feb. 12, 1962, to Nov. 1, 1977. She also had worked at King Radio and Z International, both in Paola. Mrs. Byerley had been working at the Life Care Center, Osawatomie, until earlier this year when she retired due to failing health.

She was baptized a Christian in 1982.

Survivors include two sisters, Sharon Walters, Osawatomie, and Shirley Sawyer, Lawrence; and two brothers, Roger Byerley, Kincaid, and Orlan Byerley, Parker.
