Charles M. Warner

? He was born Oct. 12, 1924, in Vermillion, the son of Charles R. and Lois (Meredith) Warner. He lived in Lawrence for 30 years before he moved to Topeka in 1990.

Mr. Warner served in World War II in the 743rd Tank Battalion and participated in D-Day, the Battle of France and Battle of the Bulge.

He worked in his early years as a mechanic and photographer. Later he worked for the maintenance department at Kansas University until his retirement.

Mr. Warner was a member of a nondenominational Christian group.

He married Ruth Tucker on Feb. 21, 1946, in Marysville. She died Nov. 27, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen Meredith, Portland, Ore., and James Christopher, Topeka; and a grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
