Chelsea a sex symbol

London It’s a long road from gawky adolescent to twenty-something sex symbol, but Vanity Fair magazine says Chelsea Clinton has made the transition.

The magazine pronounces the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Hilary Rodham Clinton “the new J.F.K. Jr.,” referring to the good-looking son of former President John F. Kennedy, killed when his plane crashed in 1999.

Vanity Fair says she’s recently grown more flamboyant and more comfortable with her public profile. The change “has done what no one would have thought possible years ago, when Chelsea was a girl with braces in billowing Laura Ashley dresses,” the article says. “Chelsea Clinton has become a sex symbol.”

INS delivers good news

Washington The baby boy that Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton are adopting is among 18 Cambodian children the Immigration and Naturalization Service has cleared for adoption by American families.

Jolie and Thornton, like other families, still must apply for a U.S. visa for their son, but the process is expected to be smooth since the INS has investigated the case of each child it has cleared.

The INS in December stopped issuing visas for children adopted from Cambodia amid concerns that some were not genuine orphans.

Xena’s little prince

Los Angeles Former “Xena: Warrior Princess” star Lucy Lawless is a mom again.

The 34-year-old actress gave birth to Judah Miro Tapert on Tuesday at her home in New Zealand, according to publicist Leah Krantzler.

The baby reportedly was in good health and weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces.

He’s the second child for Lawless and husband Robert Tapert, executive producer of the “Xena” television show, which went off the air last year. They also have a 2-year-old son, Julius Robert, and Lawless has a 13-year-old daughter, Daisy Lawless, from a previous marriage.

Stallone keeps the faith

Los Angeles Sylvester Stallone has faith that his TV series, which he said he based on the actual exploits of a Catholic priest in Philadelphia, will air next fall despite the poor timing.

“Father Lefty,” created and produced by Stallone and starring Danny Nucci as an unconventional Miami priest, is under consideration by CBS for its new season lineup, to be announced next week.

It’s based on the experiences of a Philadelphia priest, the Rev. Robert Lefrack, who used a tough, unlikely approach when he was assigned to a gang-infested parish, Stallone said.

“He’s Bruce Springsteen with a collar,” Stallone said.
