Nash Dash to benefit popular program

For the mental well being of Douglas County public school students, folks can get physical Saturday during the first Nash Dash WRAP Run.

The 5K fun run and walk, as well as a one-mile neighborhood walk, is a benefit for the WRAP counseling program that operates at 21 elementary and secondary schools in Lawrence, Baldwin and Eudora.

Check-in is 7 a.m. at the Lawrence’s Union Pacific Depot, 402 N. Second St. The 5K walk starts at 8 a.m., with the other events beginning at 8:30 a.m. The neighborhood walk passes a lemonade stand next to Woodlawn School, 508 Elm St.

WRAP, or Working for Responsible Alternative Possibilities, is operated by Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center in Lawrence. WRAP is facing a steep reduction in federal and school district funding.
