KU baseball canceled because of lightning

Due to lightning in the area and the threat of severe thunderstorms, Kansas University’s baseball game against Rockhurst scheduled for Wednesday was canceled. The two teams waited for over an hour for the weather to pass through the Lawrence area. KU will play host to Oklahoma in a three-game Big 12 series this weekend beginning at 7 p.m. Friday at Hoglund Ballpark.

Two Lions pick HCC

Two Lawrence High athletes signed letters of intent on Wednesday with Highland Community College. Mandy Amyx signed a basketball letter and Hallie Fitzgerald inked a track tender.

Boschee to sign books outside Allen Fieldhouse

Kansas senior guard Jeff Boschee will sign the book, “One Great Ride” from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Friday in front of Allen Fieldhouse as part of a KUStore.com “Stop Day blowout sale.” The sale of Final Four merchandise will run from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.

LHS soccer game set for Friday at YSI

Lawrence High’s girls soccer game against Olathe East, which was postponed Tuesday because of rain, has been rescheduled. The contest will be played at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Youth Sports Inc. fields.
