Fraud researchers gather for conference

Top researchers and workers in financial statement fraud will gather Friday and Saturday at a Kansas University conference.

The conference, organized by the KU School of Business, includes discussions on auditors’ detection of fraudulent financial statements, challenging in implementing new fraud standards, new auditing tools and changing auditors.

“In light of recent events and harsh criticism leveled at the public accounting profession, this is a particularly timely topic,” said James Heintz, director of the department of accounting and information systems at KU.

The biannual conference, the Deloitte and Touche/University of Kansas Symposium on Auditing Problems, has been held every other year since 1972.
