KU rowing ties for second place

? Kansas University’s rowing team tied for second with Kansas State at the Big 12 Invitational on Saturday.

KU and K-State scored 44 points, 11 behind winner Texas (55).

KU placed third in the First Varsity 8, second in the Second Varsity 8, first in the First Varsity 4, second in the Second Varsity 4 and second in the Novice 8.

The winning First Varsity 4 boat, coxswained by Sara Kilbride, contained Carrie Owens, Amber Snyder, Luci Lyon and Laura Adamson.

“I was pretty happy across the board,” KU coach Rob Catloth said. “We now have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA Central Regionals.”

First Varsity 8: 1. Texas, 6:41.6. 2. Kansas State, 6:46.4. 3. Kansas, 6:58.0.

Second Varsity 8: 1. Texas, 6:48.6. 2. Kansas, 6:55.8. 3. Kansas State, 6:58.8.

First Varsity 4: 1. Kansas, 7:40.3. 2. Texas, 8:02.2. 3. Kansas State, 8:10.7.

Second Varsity 4: 1. Texas, 7:49.5. 2. Kansas, 7:53.6.

Novice 8: 1. Texas, 7:09.5. 2. Kansas, 7:26.9. 3. Kansas State, 7:29.3.
