Tax waste

To the editor:

Reference the article regarding Cindy Yulich versus Sen. O’Connor (LJW, Sunday, April 28), I may not always agree with Sen. O’Connor, but this one is unbelievable. Why do people like Cindy Yulich always think it is the government’s responsibility to pay for everything. Sen. O’Connor is right on when she says that “state government needed better management, not more revenue.”

I put two kids through Catholic school, K-12, while paying for the public schools with my tax dollars so other families could benefit. The Catholic school part was my choice, the tax part wasn’t.

I have no sympathy for people who expect everyone else (the taxpayer) to always pay the bill. Frankly I think I already pay too much in taxes. I like the “Tax Me More Fund” idea. Yulich should applaud that! I support a cut in spending. School districts are no different than the federal, state or local governments; there is a lot of waste. This is a perfect opportunity for them to get a grip on it.
