KU’s Waterman honored

Kansas University tennis coach Kilmeny Waterman was named the Big 12 Conference’s Women’s Coach of the Year. Waterman guided the Jayhawks to a 16-6 overall record, 9-2 mark in conference play and a share of second place in the Big 12.

FSHS soccer canceled

Wednesday’s Kansas City Harmon at Free State soccer match was canceled because, Free State officials said, the contest was not on the Kansas City school’s schedule. Free State’s next match is Tuesday at Shawnee Mission South.

BHS wrestler to sign

Baldwin High senior Adam Halford will sign today a national letter of intent to wrestle for Northwestern College, an NAIA school located in Orange City, Iowa, next year. Halford, a 160-pounder, won 28 matches and was a Class 4A state qualifier his senior year.

Invitational postponed

The Topeka Invitational boys tennis tournament, scheduled for Wednesday at Topeka West High, was postponed until today because of wet courts. Lawrence High is among the teams scheduled to compete.
