KU Honors Recitals scheduled at Swarthout

Pianist Amir Khosrowpour, the recent recipient of the Music Teachers’ National Assn. Collegiate Artist Award, will be among the Kansas University students performing at this year’s KU Honors Recitals.

Khosrowpour joins fellow students in the Undergraduate Honors Recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Graduate Honors Recital is at 7:30 p.m. April 9. Both performances are in Swarthout Recital Hall in Murphy Hall.

The undergraduate recital features a variety of music by instrumentalists and vocalists. Khosrowpour plans to perform some of the music that won the national title.

The graduate recital includes a piano duo, the KU Saxophone Quartet and performances on tuba, flute, marimba, alto saxophone and piano.

Both recitals are free and open to the public.

‘Annie Get Your Gun’ auditions slated

Baldwin Auditions for Baldwin City Theatre’s production of “Annie Get Your Gun” will be at 2 p.m. April 7 and 7 p.m. April 8 in the Baldwin Junior High School Auditorium.

A large cast is needed, with ages ranging from 7 to 70.

Those auditioning should come prepared to sing selected songs. Copies are available at the Baldwin City Library, 800 Seventh St.

The musical will be staged June 21-28 in Baldwin.
