N. Lawrence Christian offers sunrise service

North Lawrence Christian Church, 647 Elm St., will have a sunrise Easter service at 8 a.m. Sunday, followed by breakfast at 9 a.m.

A regular service will be at 10 a.m. with an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m.

Musician joins Unity choir

Recording artist Richard Mekdeci will join the Unity Church choir for two Easter services designed to raise the spirit and remember the power of love. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday at the church, 416 Lincoln St.

Mustard Seed slates Easter presentation

Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship, 700 Wakarusa Drive, will present “Once A Man,” written by Joseph Fonseca and David Taylor with music by J.J. Willems, at 10 a.m. Sunday.

“High Five! He’s Alive!” will be a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ for children ages 2 through sixth grade at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Activities include an Easter egg candy hunt.

Sunflower Broadband adds Catholic network

Sunflower Broadband announces the addition of Eternal Word Television Network to the expanded basic channel lineup.

The Catholic network provides commercial-free, “value-based programming.” EWTN will be launched Monday on Sunflower Broadband channel 77.

Lawrence Wesleyan sets egg hunt

Lawrence Wesleyan Church, 900 Madeline Lane, plans an old-fashioned country Easter egg hunt for children from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at 667 E. 1600 Road. Contact the church for directions. Other activities include a petting zoo, raffle drawing and lunch.

Easter services will be at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11:05 a.m. Sunday. Services will include a display of Easter lilies in honor of loved ones. To participate, call 841-5446.

Eudora Southern Baptist plans sunrise service

Eudora Eudora First Southern Baptist Church will offer a sunrise service at 7 a.m. Sunday at the church, 1103 Main St. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m.

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. with another service at 10:45 a.m. The evening service is canceled.

Central Methodist plans Easter events

Central United Methodist Church, 1501 Mass., will offer an Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by a breakfast served by the youth group.

The Easter celebration is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Special music will be provided by the children’s, chancel and bell choirs.

Unitarian program a ‘flower communion’

Lawrence Unitarian Fellowship, 1263 N. 1100 Road, will have a flower communion program from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday. A wine-and-cheese potluck will follow.

Campus ministry celebrates Easter

Holy Saturday prayer for the Episcopal and Lutheran (ELCA) Campus Ministry will be at noon today at Canterbury House, 1116 La.

The Great Vigil of Easter will be at 6 tonight, followed by dinner and a Final Four party.

Easter worship is at 5 p.m. Sunday, followed by dinner.

Theologian to discuss Catholic education

Kansas City, Mo. Theologian J. Matthew Ashley will discuss obligations of Catholic higher education to the Catholic Church at 7:30 p.m. April 8 in Mabee Theater in Sedgwick Hall at Rockhurst University.

St. John’s offers Easter blessing

The blessing of Easter foods and baskets will be at noon today at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Ky. The Easter vigil will begin at 8 tonight.

Easter Sunday liturgies are at 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Religious education classes for children and teens resume April 7.

The adult education class will resume April 14 with a presentation by the Always Our Children support group.

Plymouth plans a musical Easter

Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vt., will celebrate Easter with three services featuring music ranging from rock ‘n’ roll to classical.

The sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. Sunday will be led by the church youth. The traditional service at 9:30 a.m. will include classical music from the brass choir.

The contemporary service at 11:15 a.m. will feature excerpts from “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

St. Paul Church offers sunrise service

St. Paul United Church of Christ, 314 E. Eighth St., will have its Easter sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Regular service is at 10 a.m.

Lecompton Methodist sets Easter schedule

Lecompton Lecompton United Methodist Church plans a sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday at the Millers’. Call 887-1014 for directions.

The choir cantata will provide music during the 10:45 a.m. service at the church, 402 Elmore St.

The 8:45 a.m. service is canceled.

Corpus Christi plans Easter vigil, Masses

Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6001 W. 15th St., will offer morning prayer at 8:30 a.m. today. There will be no Mass or confessions. An Easter vigil begins at 7:30 p.m. today.

Easter Sunday Masses are at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

FUMC schedules sunrise service

First United Methodist Church plans a sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday at the church’s west campus site on the southwest corner of U.S. Highway 40 and Kansas Highway 10. Enter from Highway 40 and look for the balloons marking the entry.

Services will be at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday at the church, 946 Vt. The 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. services will feature the chancel choir. The 9:30 a.m. service will feature the contemporary mid-morning music group.

Calvary plans Easter breakfast, services

The men of Calvary Temple Assembly of God will serve breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Sunday at the church, 606 W. 29th Terrace.

The Rev. Marshall I.J. Lackrone will deliver the Easter message during the 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday services. An Easter egg hunt for children 12 and younger will follow the morning service.

St. Luke AME sets Easter services

St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church, 900 N.Y., will offer an Easter sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday featuring special choral music. A second service will be at 11 a.m.

Lawrence Heights plans Easter schedule

Resurrection sunrise service will be at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Lawrence Heights Christian Church, 2321 Peterson Road. A pancake breakfast will be served after the service.

Sunday school is at 9 a.m. The resurrection worship service featuring the cantata “The Son Arose” is at 10:15 a.m.

St. Margaret’s sets Easter services

St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 5700 W. Sixth St., celebrates Easter first at 6:45 p.m. today, followed by fellowship with a big-screen viewing of the Kansas University basketball game.

West Side Presbyterian Church, 1024 Kasold Drive, will celebrate Easter at its 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Trinity Episcopal sets services, egg hunt

Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt., begins its Easter celebration with the Great Vigil at 7 tonight.

Easter Sunday services with communion are at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The late service will include a choral festival with choir, brass and timpani. Children’s Christian education is canceled. The nursery will be open for children up to 3 years of age.

An Easter egg hunt will start at 10:30 a.m. on the church lawn.

Nazarene offers Easter events

The 10:15 a.m. Sunday service at First Church of the Nazarene, 1470 N. 1000 Road, will feature an Easter message by the Rev. Don Dunn and special music.

Sunday education classes are at 9 a.m. The feature class is “Conversations on the way to the cross.”

Child care is available for all events.

First Baptist plans Easter observances

First Baptist Church, 1330 Kasold Drive, will celebrate Easter in the 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday services with handbells, brass and choir anthems.

Heartland Community Church, 619 Vt., plans Easter services at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday with the theme “Don’t Be Left Behind.”

First Christian celebrates Easter

First Christian Church, 1000 Ky., will offer two Easter Sunday services.

The 9 a.m. service will feature traditional hymns and instrumentalists.

The 10:30 a.m. service will feature contemporary praise music. Coffee fellowship is at 10 a.m.

The missions and children’s ministries plan a communitywide garage and bake sale from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and April 6 in the fellowship hall.

Sopranos schedule Topeka performance

Topeka “The Three Sopranos” Suzette Shields, Elizabeth Schellman and Christine Schumann will present a one-hour program of Easter music at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Topeka Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2401 S.W. Kingsrow.
