Heat place Jackson on injured list

Miami  The Miami Heat placed forward Jim Jackson on the injured list and activated Malik Allen before Friday’s game against Atlanta. Jackson sprained his right ankle at the end of Miami’s 81-80 loss against Toronto on Wednesday and will miss at least five games. Jackson, who averages 10.7 points, had not missed a game since being signed by the team in December, a span of 55 games. He started the Heat’s last two games.

Wizards tell Collins to stay silent on Jordan

Washington  Don’t look for anymore surprise Michael Jordan news from Washington Wizards coach Doug Collins.

Two days after he caused a stir by saying he’d be surprised if Jordan plays next season, Collins said he’s now been given a gag order on the subject.

Ellis avoids jail time

Bellevue, Wash. Â Former NBA All-Star Dale Ellis avoided jail time Friday for domestic violence. Bellevue District Court Judge Janet Garrow suspended a one-year jail sentence, contingent on Ellis having no new offenses and meeting other sentencing conditions.

He will be on probation for 24 months and is ordered not to contact his wife. The court also suspended all but $200 of a $5,000 fine.
