Barbara Jane Guy

She was born June 24, 1930, in New York City, the daughter of Harold and Muriel Yates. She was a 1948 graduate of East Denver High School.

Mrs. Guy graduated from the University of Denver in 1952, where she earned Phi Beta Kappa honors.

She was a grade school teacher for three years in Denver and for three years in Wichita before becoming a mother and homemaker.

Mrs. Guy moved to Lawrence in May 1991. She had lived in San Diego; Casper, Wyo.; Newark, Ohio; Wichita and Denver.

A collector of Madame Alexander dolls, she was a member of Over the Hill Doll Club, Lawrence.

She married Willard J. “Bill” Guy. He survives of the home.

Others survivors include two daughters, Pamela Romanko, Redmond, Ore., and Cynthia Vierkant, Casper, Wyo.; a son, David Guy, Sacramento, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Canine Companions for Independence, 4989 State Route 37 East, Delaware, OH 43015; Assistance Dogs of America Inc., 109 Lighthouse Drive, Jupiter, FL 33469, or to the donor’s local Humane Society.
