Astros clobber Royals, 6-1

? Wade Miller pitched five scoreless innings and hit a three-run triple as the Houston Astros defeated the Kansas City Royals 6-1 Thursday.

Jeff Bagwell hit his seventh home run of spring training for the Astros and Morgan Ensberg had a two-run double.

Bagwell finished his best Grapefruit League season ever with a .442 average (23-for-52) and a team-high 22 RBIs.

Hernandez getting better

Kansas City right-hander Roberto Hernandez’s nagging elbow and tightness in his shoulder has limited him to 41/3 innings in spring training ‘A’ games.

Still, the closer is scheduled to pitch today against the Detroit Tigers, but probably only one inning on a restricted pitch count.

“It’s getting better,” Hernandez said Thursday of his elbow and shoulder.
