Concert features faculty, students

Topeka “Tunes to Tickle Your Funny Bones,” a variety of lighthearted music, will be performed by Washburn University orchestra, band, singers and faculty members at 7:30 p.m Monday in the Garvey Fine Arts Center on the Washburn campus, 17th and Jewell streets.

The program will include “Duet of Two Cats” by Rossini; “A Word on My Ear” by Ann Marie Snook; a montage of classical themes made popular by “Looney Tunes” cartoons and spoof numbers by P.D.Q. Bach; and pianist James Rivers performing snippets of “Happy Birthday” in the style of different composers. The concert is free and open to the public.

KC Chorale slates Easter concert

Kansas City, Mo. The Kansas City Chorale will present its Easter concert at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, 4525 Oak St. The 24-member choir, led by Charles Bruffy, has received critical acclaim for its recordings on England’s Nimbus Records label.
