HAINES CITY, FLA. ? Left-hander Jose Rosado returned to the Royals on Wednesday, agreeing to a minor league contract.

Rosado, a two-time American League All-Star selection, was placed on unconditional waivers March 10 by the Royals.

Also Wednesday, outfielder Dee Brown, a 1996 first-round draft pick, was optioned to Class AAA Omaha. Brown, 24, hit .245 with seven home runs and 40 RBIs in 106 games as a rookie last season. He hit .250 with one home run and five RBIs in 22 exhibition games, but struckout 13 times.
