Joseph John ‘Jack’ Newcomb

Memorial services for Joseph John “Jack” Newcomb, 83, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. April 20 at Trinity Episcopal Church. He donated his body to the Kansas University School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kan., for medical research.

Mr. Newcomb died Monday, March 18, 2002, at the Manor of Kansas City, Kan.

He was born Feb. 26, 1919, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Joseph and Ella (Jacobsen) Newcomb.

Mr. Newcomb had been a manager for the Kansas University Bookstore. He retired from the National Association of College Stores, where he had been editor of the organization’s National Journal.

He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and volunteered at Watkins Community Museum of History.

Survivors include a sister, Betty Endorf, Kansas City, Kan.

The family suggests memorials to the church.
