Larry and Lori Ingram Stussie, Lawrence, announce the birth of their son, Noah Donald Stussie, born March 4, 2002, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He has two brothers Andrew, 7, and Cameron, 2.

Grandparents are Pat and Loren Ingram, Anthony; Gary and Laney Stussie, Lawrence; and Dave and Chat Sullivan, Pearl City, Ill. Great-grandmother is Mae Cook, Lawrence.

Dale and Amanda Beers, McLouth, announce the birth of their son, Colt Thomas Beers, born March 7, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He has one brother James Robert Beers, 12.

Grandparents are LeRoy and Linda Dame, McLouth, and Norman and Millie Beers, Lawrence.

Heather and Andrew Lynds, Traverse City, Mich., announce the birth of their son, Ethan Ivory Lynds, born Feb. 24, 2002, at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City, Mich.

Grandparents are Russ Brown, Charlevoix, Mich.; Pat and Linda Price, Petoskey, Mich.; and Betty and Merv Lynds, Lawrence.

The Lawrence Accredited Music Teachers recital will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lawrence Arts Center, Ninth and Vermont streets. Students who will participate are Colin Toalson, Robert Weinaug, Matthew Schaich, Clare Hove, Rance Graham-Bailey, Amy Stahl, Jeff Miller, Abigail Adams, Adrienne Willems, Hsin-yi Pan, Helen Hawkins, Jonathan Doll, JoAnn Doll, Ulrich Johanning, Ludwig K.D. Johanning, Naomi Kurata, Wolfgang Johanning, Willie Maderos-Treaster, Aileen Doll, Margaret Bireta and Ken Kurata. These students represent the studios of Sue Kwak, Pat Burgstahler, Carol Cook and Jean Drumm.

Dawn Filkins, Lawrence, has been awarded a Presidential Scholarship to attend North Central College, Naperville, Ill. Students are invited to compete in the program based on a variety of criteria, including ACT or SAT scores, class rank and high school grade point average. During the competition, students are interviewed by North Central faculty, staff and current Presidential Scholars. The also take part in a critical-thinking exam. Each scholarship is renewable for three years providing the student maintains at least a 3.0 grade point average.

Filkins is a senior at Lawrence Free State High School and the daughter of Duane and Debbie Filkins of Lawrence.

Shelley Birdsong, Lawrence, made the Deans’ List for the fall 2001 semester at Azusa Pacific University by earning at least a 3.5 grade point average.

Bridget Hecox, Lawrence, made the President’s List at Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, La., by earning at least a 3.8 grade point average.

Robert Park, son of Choon and Jinyoung Park, Lawrence, has been named to the honor roll for the winter term at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., by maintaining at least a 5.0 grade point average on a 6.0 scale.

Phillips Academy, also known as Andover, is a coeducational independent high school of 1,065 students located 25 miles north of Boston.

The academy was founded in 1778 and is the nation’s oldest incorporated boarding school.
