Joy L. Maniez

Mrs. Maniez died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Eudora Nursing Center.

She was born Feb. 19, 1931, in Pittsburg, the daughter of Louis and Jennie (Mitchell) Guthrie.

Mrs. Maniez was a homemaker most of her life. She also worked for six years as a certified nurse’s aide at a nursing home. She was a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout den mother.

She married Kenneth G. Maniez on June 9, 1951, in Eureka Springs, Ark. He died earlier.

Survivors include a son, Timothy J., DeSoto; six brothers, Alvin Guthrie, St. Paul, Minn., Dale, Gary, Steve and Terrel Guthrie, all of Stockton, Calif., and Dennis Guthrie, Phoenix, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

A daughter, Brenda G. Englehart, died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, 32665 Lexington Ave, DeSoto.
