Kansas Speedway gets cooking

? Kansas Speedway is accepting entries for the second annual Kansas Speedway / Oklahoma Joe’s Barbecue Cookoff.

The cook-off is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and boasts some $40,000 in total prize money. The grand champion barbecue team will win $10,000 from a field of 250 expected entries. Cash prizes will be awarded through tenth place in each of the four barbecue categories – ribs, chicken, pork and brisket.

A $1,500 prize will be awarded to the booth that best exemplifies NASCAR.

The cookoff is April 26 and 27 in Kansas Speedways infield.

For tickets, call Kansas Speedway at 913.328.RACE. Tickets are $10 for Friday, April 26, and $5 on Saturday, April 27. Friday tickets include a $2 coupon good for food concessions at the track.

Fireworks are planned for Friday night, and the Richard Petty Driving Experience will be on track that weekend.
