Recruiting praise

To the editor:

We were dismayed at the negative column in the Lawrence Journal-World by Dolph Simons on Saturday, regarding recruiting efforts by Kansas University. Our experiences with the Office of Admissions and Scholarships and other KU offices have been extremely positive. Our daughter is seriously considering attending KU. KU is on her list of the final two. This in spite of the fact that she has received substantial scholarships offers from other universities (as much as $14,000 per year guaranteed for four years).

KU is still on her list because of the outstanding recruiting efforts of KU’s recruiters, honors program faculty, students and staff. KU’s recruiting efforts have been exemplary. Visits to the campus have been arranged efficiently. They were an excellent blend of academics and student life experiences. The KU faculty, students and staff that we have interacted with have been gracious and accommodating. Overall the recruiting efforts have been extremely effective. A new admissions director will be able to build on a strong vibrant foundation currently in place at KU.
