Frances E. Albertson

Overland Park Services for Frances E. Albertson, 87, Olathe and formerly of Lawrence, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Ascension, 9510 W. 127th St., Overland Park. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence.

Mrs. Albertson died Sunday, March 17, 2002 at the Villa St. Francis.

She was born July 28, 1914, in South Mound, the daughter of Frank and Anna Giefer. She lived most of her life in Lawrence before moving to the Kansas City area in 1999.

She and her husband owned and operated Albertson’s Dairy for 12 years, and then she worked for the Lawrence Public Schools for 10 years, retiring in 1977.

Mrs. Albertson was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the church’s Altar Society, and was a founder of the St. Jude’s Circle Daughters of Isabella. She also was a charter member of St. John’s Rummage House.

She married Orville Albertson on Dec. 19, 1936, in South Mound. He died in 1986.

Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Larry Albertson, Overland Park, and Jerry Albertson, Ozawkie; four brothers, Frank Giefer, St. Paul, Joe Giefer, Olathe, Bob Giefer, Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Jim Giefer, St. Joseph, Mo.; four sisters, Agnes McGuire, Sacramento, Calif., Mary Meyer, Conway Springs, Helen Opat, Nicoma Park, Okla., and Anna Chambers, Midwest City, Okla.; and five grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, where the St. Jude’s Circle Daughters of Isabella will post an honor guard and recite the rosary at 9:30 a.m.
