Voters speak

To the editor:

Some of our students took time from their day and proceeded to Topeka in an effort to save THEIR schools. Very commendable indeed. However this situation is going to require voting parents to take time from our busy day to pay a visit to the Capitol. Organize and go!

The core of the problem is a majority of votes controlled by conservative Republicans having a love affair with tax cuts in spite of revenue shortfalls. Not real smart. This type of bookkeeping has been in practice for five years. Do you want this to stop? Gov. Graves and Kent Glasscock have not taken strong vocal positions until this session. A little late.

Our Douglas County delegation has not supported the conservative tax cuts. Our schools have gone begging for at least four years. Your state law enforcement agencies are also in dire straits.

If the Republican conservatives will not support education or law enforcement, imagine what all other departments are facing. The newspaper reveals the only department with money to blow is KDOT.

Support your board of education with organized visits to Topeka. Remember, they have gone begging for the last four years, and now the party is over. The best answer is at the ballot box.
