Kentucky, Kent State and Missouri claim early wins

Bulletin: With two early upsets, March Madness is officially underway. The Kentucky Wildcats have held off Valparaiso, and Kent State has upset the Big 12’s Oklahoma State in Thursday’s early NCAA Tournament games.

Kent State, the South Region’s tenth seed, parlayed a nine-point halftime lead into a 69-61 victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the region’s opener.

The Big 12 Conference evened its record so far when Missouri upset Miami decisively 93-80. The Tigers opened up a lead they never relinquished throughout the second half to advance to the second round Saturday.

In the East, fourth-seeded Kentucky built up a 19-point lead in the first half that proved insurmountable to Valpo, the number 13 seed.
