Mary Margaret Thompson

? Services for Mary Margaret Thompson, 84, Harveyville, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harveyville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Eskridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Midland Hospice Care, Topeka.

She was born Dec. 21, 1917, in Auburn, the daughter of Marshall and Mildred (Kidman) Cunningham. She graduated from Auburn Rural High School.

Mrs. Thompson taught at Twinville rural school west of Auburn, and was a substitute teacher after marriage.

She was a member of Auburn Presbyterian Church and attended Harveyville United Methodist Church, where she was organist for 21 years. She was a member of Corinthian Chapter No. 181, Order of Easter Star, Burlingame, and Rebekah Lodge No. 716 and H.H.C. Club, both at Harveyville.

She married James W. Thompson Sr., on May 15, 1937, near Harveyville. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, James W. II, Council Grove, and Richard, Harveyville; five daughters, Janice Taylor, Lansing, Mary Ann Strickland, Kansas City, Kan., Beth Garbe, Parkville, Mo., Carolyn Thurman, Lawrence, and Sara Thompson, Wamego; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A grandson died in 1985.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
