Jean Martin

Eudora Services for Jean Martin, 75, Olathe, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of Christ, Eudora. Burial will be in Eudora Cemetery.

Mrs. Martin died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

She was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Mangum, Okla., the daughter of James Chatten and Clara Eunice (Coop) Hogan. She graduated in 1945 from Brinkman High School, Brinkman, Okla.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker. She was a member of Eudora E.H.U. and was active in the Douglas County Extension programs. She participated in Douglas County Senior Services and volunteered at Eudora High School home economics classes. She belonged to the Olathe Church of Christ and had formerly belonged to the Eudora Church of Christ.

She married Allen Lee Martin on June 3, 1946, in Brinkman. He died July 13, 1982.

Survivors include five sons, Michael Lee Martin, Colorado Springs, Colo., John Chatt Martin, Lawrence, Steven Neal Martin, Overbrook, Joseph Henry Martin, Lake Lotawana, Mo., and Timothy Eugene Martin, Olathe; two sisters, Beatrice Lay, Santee, Calif., and Olvina Reese, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A grandson died earlier.

The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Topeka’s Northside Church of Christ Missionary Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
