? Officials at Robert R. Courtney’s church want to learn the full extent of the pharmacist’s criminal conduct before deciding what to do with more than $600,000 he donated, the church’s pastor said.

Courtney, 49, pleaded guilty Tuesday to 20 felony counts related to diluting cancer drugs. He confessed to diluting medications for 34 patients between March and June 2001.

“We certainly have no intention to knowingly hold money that comes from illegal activities,” said the Rev. J. Lowell Harrup of Northland Cathedral Assembly of God.

Shortly after his arrest last summer, Courtney told FBI agents he diluted the drugs partly because of financial pressures, including $333,000 he owed on a $1 million pledge to his church.

Courtney said he donated about $333,000 in both 1999 and 2000. So far, there is no indication that Courtney diluted cancer drugs in those years.

The church cannot keep money that came from illegal acts, Harrup said. “That’s a basic ethic of life.”
