Iguodala may reopen recruiting

Arkansas basketball signee Andre Iguodala, who says he may reopen his recruiting now that Nolan Richardson is out as UA coach, has his mind on the Illinois State High School playoffs right now.

Iguodala, a 6-foot-6 forward from Springfield (Ill.) Lanphier High, who signed with UA last November after considering Kansas, Boston College, Maryland and Arizona, scored 28 points in Friday’s 87-54 regional championship victory over Danville. Lanphier advanced to Tuesday’s sectional semfinals.

“I heard the things about Nolan and about (me) transferring, but I just want to get away from that and just focus on the game,” Iguodala told the Springfield State Journal-Register. “I’m not mad at all, but I’ll probably make a decision on whether I’ll stay or I’ll leave. I’ll talk with my family and make a decision.”

He told a radio reporter he might reconsider KU, Maryland or Boston College.

Iguodala must receive a release from Arkansas’ athletics director before any schools may recruit him. If Iguodala attends another school with a release, he must sit a year and lose a year of eligibility. Without a release, he would have to sit two years and lose two years of eligibility. A player signs with an institution not a coach.

Lanphier (20-7) will meet Lincoln on Tuesday night in Springfield.
