The musical, being staged by Music Theatre of Young People, is about a town that does not allow dancing.

Watkins Museum displays cloth dolls

More than 80 cloth dolls are on display at Watkins Community Museum of History, 1047 Mass.

The exhibit, “From Rags to Riches: Cloth Dolls of Douglas County,” was assembled by members of the Lawrence Doll Club and will be shown through March 31.

Cloth or rag dolls have been in existence since Roman times. In early America, they were popular during the Colonial period; children later carried them as they rode west in covered wagons.

Some of the dolls in the exhibit are a Raggedy Ann from the 1960s, scrap bag dolls created from colorful fabrics and a Peddler doll.

The free show is open to the public. Donations will be accepted.
