IN 1977

The Kansas House passed with six votes to spare a bill setting a state minimum wage of $1.60 an hour and requiring payment of time and a half for overtime in excess of 40 hours per week.

IN 1962

A Kansas University faculty group decided that Bert Coan, Jayhawk football halfback involved in Big Eight and NCAA penalties against KU in 1960, was ineligible for further competition here after he had been held out of action for a season due to a broken ankle. Coan immediately signed a professional contract with the San Diego Chargers, which also had signed star quarterback John Hadl of the Jayhawks.
