Author to appear at KC bookstores

Kansas City, Mo. Charles Platkin, author of “Breaking the Pattern, will sign copies of his books at two Kansas City bookstores.

He will be at Barnes and Noble, 8121 N.W. Roanridge Road, at 7 p.m. Saturday and at County Club Plaza Barnes and Noble, 420 W. 47th St., at 2 p.m. July 7. He will conduct a seminar and sign copies of his books.

The seminar will touch on toxic relationships, dieting, job dissatisfaction and financial discontent.

The book signings are free and open to the public.

Travel agency CEO to talk about Sept. 11

Kansas City, Mo. Jim Brenneman, chief executive officer of Cruises and Tours by Brennco, will talk about the implications of the Sept. 11 attacks on the economy and tourism, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W. 47th St.
