Catholic church changes time for Healing Mass

Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6001 W. 15th St., has changed the time of its Healing Mass on Wednesday. The Mass is set for 7 a.m.

Unity Church to move to new location

Sunday will be the last service that Unity Church of Lawrence will have at 416 Lincoln. The church is moving to 900 Madeline.

Sunday’s services, at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., will involve a time of reflection and celebration for the years spent at the site. After the 11 a.m. service, church members will make a ceremonial move walking, biking and driving from 416 Lincoln to the church’s new home, where music and food will be provided under a tent in the parking lot.

Lay minister to preach at Calvary Temple

Bill Martin, lay minister, will talk at the 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday services at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th Terrace.

Heartland to help clean Well’s Overlook

Heartland Community Church, 619 Vt., will provide cleanup services from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Well’s Overlook, south of Lawrence. Volunteers are needed to clear brush and trash and paint park equipment.

Heartland is accepting tax-deductible contributions to sponsor the benefit. All proceeds will go to Heartland Medical Clinic, which provides free medical care to the uninsured, and the Heartland Youth Group, which builds homes for the homeless in Mexico.

Baptism, book group at St. Margaret’s

A Celebration of Baptism for Lauren Anne Malik will be during the 5:30 p.m. Sunday service at St. Margaret’s Church, 5700 W. Sixth St.

Trinity Episcopal group to study heresy

The 40 Good Minutes study group at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt., will focus on the church’s view of heresy when it meets at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the church’s Matthews Center. Newcomers are welcome.

Praise Temple to have bake sale today

The bake sale will be at 9 a.m. today at Praise Temple Church of God in Christ, 315 E. Seventh.

Plymouth plans picnic, 4th of July service

Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vt., will have its annual Fourth of July celebration and picnic Sunday. The 9:30 a.m. worship service will feature a brass quintet and percussionist and the Chancel Choir. The piano trio of Helen Hawley, Marilyn Epp and Jan Shumway will present “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

After the service, a picnic will be in the parking lot. There will be no second service on Sunday.

Lecompton church to serve dinner

Lecompton The Lecompton United Methodist Church will take part in the annual Lecompton Territorial Days celebration today by offering a dinner at 11:30 a.m. No reservations are necessary.

St. Luke to sell catfish dinners

St. Luke A.M.E. Church, 900 N.Y., will have a catfish dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Dinners are $7 for adults and $5 for children. The fish fry is part of the church’s month-long Men and Women’s Day Celebration, which will have its finale on July 28.

On Sunday, the church will celebrate its Steward/Trustee Day at 3:30 p.m. Honored guest is the Rev. Leon Burley, of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Ottawa.

Apostolic Ministries official to give talk

Wayne C. Anderson of International Apostolic Ministries will speak at 7 p.m. Friday and July 6 and 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. July 7 at Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship, 700 Wakarusa Drive.

Kidzpectacular will be at 7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and feature ventriloquism, puppets, music, cartooning and comedy.
