Harold and Aileen Denholm, Tonganoxie, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the VFW Post Home on East First Street, Tonganoxie. The reception will be given by their children and grandchildren.

The Denholms were married May 25, 1952, in the Methodist Church at Richmond. They are the parents of Linda Sturgeon, Tonganoxie; Carol Fellows, Everett, Wash.; Gregg Denholm, Tonganoxie; and Lorie Bishop, Reston, Va. They have nine grandchildren.

Harold worked as a rural mail carrier until his 1985 retirement. Aileen retired in 1991 from the J.C. Penney store in Lawrence.

Lee and Vera Kennedy, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 7 at Central United Methodist Church.

They were married July 5, 1952, in Antioch. They have two sons, David Kennedy and Allan Kennedy, both of Lawrence. They also have five grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Lee served in the Army. He worked for Montgomery Wards and Dale Willey Pontiac Cadillac. He is manager of the Clinton Lake Marina. Vera worked for Hallmark, Avon and J.C. Penney. She retired in 1993 after 25 years.

Bernard and Bonnie Uhlrich, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family gathering Sunday.

Bonnie Black and Bernard Uhlrich were married June 27, 1942, in Jefferson County.

Bernard was a distributor for the Mobil Oil Corp. until he retired in 1983. The couple shared their home with more than 100 foster children. They have spent most of their married life in Tonganoxie and moved to Lawrence in 2000.

Their children are Jim Uhlrich, Edwardsville; Cheryl and Chuck Packard, Lawrence; and Jane Uhlrich, Greenwood, Mo. A son, Francis E. Uhlrich, died in 2001. They have three grandchildren.
