WNBA Roundup: Jazz silence Monarchs

? Natalie Williams had season-highs of 22 points and 20 rebounds as the Utah Jazz defeated the Sacramento Monarchs 77-61 Saturday.

Marie Ferdinand scored all 16 of her points in the second half, and Adrienne Goodson scored 15 for Utah (7-3), which has won three straight and is off to its best start in franchise history.

Ferdinand scored six points in the Starzz’s 15-6 run that opened the second half and gave Utah a 42-26 lead. The margin remained double digits the rest of the game.

Tangela Smith scored a season-high 27 points for Sacramento (2-7), which played without All-Stars Ticha Penicheiro and Yolanda Griffith, who are both injured.

Sting 76, Sol 63

Charlotte, N.C. Allison Feaster tied her career-high with 23 points as Charlotte beat Miami. Tammy Sutton-Brown added 14 points and nine rebounds while Andrea Stinson had 12 points and a season-high six assists for the Sting (5-5), who won their 12th straight regular season home game.

Betty Lennox scored 13 of her season-high 18 points in the first half to lead Miami (2-8), while Sandy Brondello added 12 points.
