Blue Springs, Mo. ? Lawrence’s Renegades, an 18-and-under traveling baseball team, split a pair of games Saturday in a Triple Crown World Qualifier tournament.

Lawrence was clipped in the opening game, 4-3, by the Florissant (Mo.) Travelers. The Renegades rallied to win their second game, 6-5, against the Kansas City Generals.

Lawrence overcame six errors in the nightcap.

“It says that we’ve got a pitching staff with tremendous intestinal fortitude,” Lawrence coach Lynn Harrod said. “To stay out there and show composure, there’s a lot to be said about that. You don’t know what it’s like to stand in the middle of the mound and watch players kick it around behind you and continue to throw strikes.”

John Parker improved to 4-1 with the win, and Ryne Jackson earned his first save. Jackson, who had pitched seven innings in the opening-game loss, ended the game with the bases full of Generals.

Devon Myers was 1-for-1 with a walk and two RBIs in the win.

The Renegades (13-7) return to the tournament today against an opponent to be determined.
