Kansas Basketball: KU to play host to Mules

Kansas University will play not one, but two NCAA Div. II schools in men’s basketball next season.

The Jayhawks have agreed to meet coach Kim Anderson’s Central Missouri State Mules at 7 p.m., Dec. 4 at Allen Fieldhouse.

It marks Central Missouri State’s first game against a Div. I team since 1993-94 when CMSU fell to Missouri, 69-66, in Columbia, Mo.

KU last played the Mules in 1991-92, the Jayhawks rolling, 83-54.

CMSU will be led by Anderson, who spent the last two years as assistant commissioner of the Big 12 Conference. He played at Missouri under Norm Stewart from 1973-77.

KU also will meet NCAA Div. II Emporia State in December in Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas will be playing UCLA and Arizona at home and also will travel to Tulsa, Oregon and play Cal in the Bay Area in the Newell Challenge. The Jayhawks also will play a pair of home games in the Preseason NIT. KU’s schedule will be released in July.
