Anniversaries

Bickel

Gayle and Dolores Bickel will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 30 at the Grantville Community Center.

Gayle retired in 1994 after 32 years at Stevenson Sheet Metal Co. Dolores retired in 1996 after nine years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, 15 years with Midwest Linebuilders and five years with the state of Kansas.

The reception will be planned by their children, Brad and Rhonda Hamm, Perry; Jon Bickel, Topeka; and Bill and Jolene Bickel, Meriden. The couple also have five grandchildren.

Heine

Otis “Lud” and Reta Heine, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 29 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2700 Lawrence Ave.

Otis L. Heine and Reta L. Bagby were married July 6, 1952, at Danforth Chapel on the Kansas University campus.

The reception will be planned by their children, Rhonda and Brian Bingaman, Oklahoma City, and Rodney and Lanaea Heine, Lawrence. The couple also have four grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.

Prosser

Francis and Nancy Prosser recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

They were married May 31, 1952, in Wichita.

Nancy, a Wichita State University graduate, and Frank, a Kansas University graduate, both grew up and met in Wichita. They moved to Lawrence and built the house that they still reside in after Frank received his post doctorate from Rice University.

Frank, a professor emeritus of physics, has worked at KU since 1957. Nancy, among other positions, has been a school teacher, scout leader and legal secretary. They have been active in various clubs, city organizations and church activities at Plymouth Congregational Church.

The couple’s children are David and Lori Prosser, Gillette, N.J.; Rebecca Prosser, Knoxville, Tenn.; and Matt and Martha McCarter, Overland Park. They also have four grandchildren.

Osborne

Maureen and William Osborne will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an anniversary dinner June 22 in the Free State Room at the Eldridge Hotel. The event also will be marked during a family reunion June 21-23.

Bill Osborne and Maureen O’Connor were married June 21, 1952, at St. Mary’s Church in Elgin, Ill. Bill graduated from Notre Dame University in 1952 with a degree in engineering. Maureen attended St. Mary’s of Notre Dame and then graduated from St. Francis in Evanston, Ind., as a radiology technician. Bill worked for the DuPont Company his entire career, living in Delaware, North Carolina, Iowa and Kansas with his family. He retired in 1985.

The couple are active members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

The couple’s children are Kathleen Colson, Lawrence; Eileen Rohwer, Clinton, Iowa; Mary McEwen, Centennial, Colo.; Anne Guttman, Eden Prairie, Minn; Michael Osborne, Olathe; David Osborne, Lawrence; and the late Marie Anne Osborne. The couple also have 12 grandchildren.

Raney

Kathleen and Dick Raney, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to New Mexico to visit family.

They were married June 15, 1952, in Wamego after meeting at Kansas University.

Dick is retired. He was owner of Raney Drug Store.

The couple’s children are Michelle Raney, Lawrence; and the late Richard B. Raney. They have two grandchildren.

Anderson

Pete and Joan Anderson, Lawrence, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary June 29 with a family picnic at the Nordhus farm in Vinland Valley.

Pete Anderson and Joan Lobb were married June 29, 1962, at Danforth Chapel on the Kansas University campus. The Andersons took a honeymoon trip to Gull Lake, Minn.
