He was a professor of pharmacology and toxicology at the Kansas University School of Pharmacy.

Survivors include his wife, Bernadette, of the home; three daughters, Diane Traiger, of the home, Susan Traiger Micek, Kansas City, Mo., and Elizabeth Traiger, Oxford, England; and a grandson.
